BITSAT (BITS Admission Test) is the computer-based entrance examination conducted by BITS Pilani for admission to integrated first-degree programmes such as B.E., B.Pharm., and M.Sc. at BITS Pilani campuses (including Pilani, Goa, Hyderabad, and others as announced). Registration, slot booking, admit card, and results are handled through the official BITS admission portal at admissions.bits-pilani.ac.in.
Mode & duration: BITSAT is a 3-hour computer-based test (CBT) with no mid-exam break.
Structure: The paper typically has 130 multiple-choice questions for 390 marks β covering Physics (30), Chemistry (30), English Proficiency & Logical Reasoning, and either Mathematics or Biology depending on whether you are a PCM or PCB candidate. All questions carry equal marks.
Marking: Each wrong answer usually carries negative marking of β1; unanswered questions do not attract negative marks. BITSAT may also offer optional bonus questions for candidates who finish early (rules are specified in the official information brochure).
Syllabus: Content is broadly aligned with NCERT Class 11 and 12 topics for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology, plus English and logical reasoning. Always refer to the latest BITSAT brochure on the BITS admission website for the exact syllabus and any updates.
You can download your BITSAT admit card only after completing slot booking on the official BITS admission portal. Media reports for 2026 indicate admit cards may be available around early April for Session 1 and around late May for Session 2, subject to change β always check admissions.bits-pilani.ac.in and your registered email/SMS for the exact release date.
Carry a clear printout of your BITSAT admit card and a valid photo ID (e.g. Aadhaar, passport, driving licence, school ID as permitted in the brochure). The name and photograph should match your registration. Follow any dress-code or frisking rules stated on the admit card. Carry only items allowed by BITS for the CBT β avoid prohibited electronics or study material.
When BITS offers two sessions in a year, eligible candidates may register and appear as per the rules in the official information brochure (including fee and score usage). Whether the better score or the first attempt is used for merit is defined by BITS β read the current brochure on the BITS admission website for Session 1 and Session 2 policies.
BITSAT typically awards equal marks per correct MCQ, with β1 for each incorrect answer and no negative marks for unattempted questions. Optional bonus questions, if you qualify to attempt them, follow the rules given in the official brochure. Total questions and marks are usually 130 questions / 390 marks for the main paper.
Results and merit lists are published on the official BITS admission portal. Log in with your application credentials to view scores and follow instructions for iteration rounds, filling programme preferences, and fee payment. Do not rely on third-party sites for cut-offs or seat status β use only BITS communications.
BITS typically requires a minimum of 75% aggregate in PCM or PCB (for 12th or equivalent) and at least 60% in each of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology, subject to the latest brochure. PCB candidates may be restricted to specific programmes (e.g. B.Pharm.). Candidates passing Class 12 in the qualifying years as notified by BITS can apply.
