CAT - All You Need to Know

The Common Admission Test (CAT) is a computer-based test conducted annually by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) for admission to their MBA programs and other participating institutes.

What Is the CAT Exam?

The CAT exam is a computer-based aptitude test designed to evaluate candidates in three core areas:

  • Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC)
  • Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR)
  • Quantitative Ability (QA)

Conducted by IIMs on a rotational basis, CAT is accepted by over 1,000 business schools across India for their MBA/PGDM programs.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Educational Qualification: Bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PWD candidates)
  • Final Year Students: Can apply (degree completion required before admission)
  • Age Limit: No age restriction
  • Attempt Limit: Maximum 6 attempts allowed
  • Nationality: Indian nationals and foreign nationals
